The Red Plating Montipora (often called the Red Monti Cap) is one of the most iconic “stepping stone” corals for hobbyists entering the world of Small Polyp Stony (SPS) corals. It is famous for its fast growth rate and its ability to form beautiful, swirling, rose-like plate.
Care Tips:
- Easy to Intermediate for an SPS
- Suitable for beginners moving from soft and LPS to SPS
- Requires stable water conditions
- Grows well under moderate to high light (150–350 PAR)
- Likes moderate to strong / turbulent flow
- Place on middle to upper rockwork
- Peaceful temprement but can overgrow other SPS
