Description
Discosoma Mushroom – Green
Discosoma Mushroom corals are widely considered the perfect beginner coral because they are incredibly hardy, highly adaptable, and exhibit striking, diverse colour variations. Belonging to the order Corallimorpharia, these disc-shaped soft corals are distinct from true stony corals and behave similarly to anemones. They are native to the Indo-Pacific region and are highly sought after for adding robust patches of colours ranging from common solid reds, blues and greens to high-end “Jawbreaker” designer varieties—to shaded areas of reef aquariums.
Care Tips:
- Moderate to easy to keep
- Suitable for beginners
- Can withstand slightly fluctuating water values
- Grows well under low to moderate light (30-100 PAR)
- They require very gentle, indirect water movement. Turbulent or strong flow will prevent the polyps from extending fully
- Discosoma mushrooms are photosynthetic and also filter-feed on dissolved organic nutrients.
