Description
Flipper Float Magnet Cleaner (Standard)
This is a 2-in-1 magnetic cleaner with a patented flip mechanism. It attaches magnetically through the tank glass. The inner “wet side” has two cleaning surfaces: a soft pad for gentle scrubbing of everyday algae/film, and a scraper blade (stainless steel for glass, or plastic/ABS for acrylic in some variants) for tougher buildup like coralline algae.
The key upgrade in the “Float” version is its floating design. If the magnets detach the inner cleaner floats to the surface for easy retrieval instead of sinking into rocks or substrate. This prevents loss or hassle digging it out.
This standard size model, suitable for most medium to large home aquariums, handling glass/acrylic thicknesses up to 1/2 inch (12mm). It’s not for pools or pond use.

Features:
- Dual-sided cleaning: Rotate the outer handle 180° to flip between soft pad (for daily/light algae) and scraper blade (for hard/stubborn algae like green spot or coralline).
- Strong rare-earth/neodymium magnets: Provide excellent hold and cleaning power without slipping easily.
- Floating capability (Float model): Inner unit floats to the top if detached, keeping hands dry and retrieval simple.
- Ergonomic grip/flip handle: Makes switching sides quick and comfortable.
- Low-profile design: Gets into corners and edges well; blade side has minimal contact points (e.g., 3 points) to reduce scratching risk.
- Safety features: Spacers/feet help prevent sand/grit from getting trapped and scratching the glass (especially useful near the bottom/sandbed).
- Versatile: Works on glass (stainless blade) or acrylic (plastic blade options); suitable for freshwater or saltwater/reef tanks.
- Dimensions (approximate for standard): Around 191mm x 115mm x 45mm (including handle/feet/blade).
Tips for Use:
- Master the flip technique: Turn off pumps/wavemakers first to reduce flow interference. Pull the outer handle ~6 inches away from the glass, rotate 180°, then quickly slide it back to reconnect—practice in a low-flow area.
- Bottom section safety: Avoid using the felt/soft pad near the sand/substrate (bottom 2-4 inches) to prevent trapping grains that could scratch. Switch to blade side for lower areas.
- Blade care: Rinse the stainless steel blade regularly; replace if it dulls. For acrylic tanks, use the plastic blade to avoid damage.
- Detachment prevention: Don’t press too hard or clean in very high-flow zones. If it does detach, the float feature saves you.
- Maintenance: Clean the pad/blade after each use. For tough coralline, the scraper excels but use gently.
- General advice: Start with light pressure and the pad side for most routine cleanings. It’s great for weekly maintenance to keep algae under control.
