Description
Montipora Encrusting – Neon Green
Encrusting Montipora corals are highly sought-after Small Polyp Stony (SPS) corals known for their brilliant color morphs and their ability to carpet rockwork with a colorful, textured mat. Unlike plating Montipora capricornis or upright branching Montipora digitata, encrusting species adhere tightly to existing surfaces, creeping over bare rocks, overflows, or even the glass of a reef aquarium. They are regarded as one of the absolute best starter SPS corals because they grow exceptionally fast while being far more forgiving than sensitive Acropora species.
Care Tips:
- Moderate (Excellent first SPS)
- Suitable for beginners moving from soft and LPS to SPS
- Requires stable water conditions
- Grows well under moderate to high light (125–250 PAR)
- Likes moderate to strong / turbulent flow
- Place on middle to upper rockwork
- Peaceful temprement but easily out-stung. Can grow over other poorly defended coral
