Description
Wyin Aqua External Inline CO2 Diffuser
The Wyin Aqua External Inline CO2 Diffuser is a device designed for planted aquariums to efficiently deliver carbon dioxide (CO2) to aquatic plants. Installed in the outflow tubing of an external canister filter, it sits outside the aquarium, reducing in-tank clutter. The diffuser typically features a ceramic membrane that atomizes CO2 into fine bubbles, ensuring high dissolution rates in the water. Constructed from durable materials like aluminium alloy or high-grade glass, it is built for longevity and aesthetic integration with aquarium setups.
Benefits:
- Efficient CO2 Dissolution: Produces ultra-fine CO2 bubbles, maximizing dissolution (often near 100%), which ensures plants receive adequate CO2 for photosynthesis.
- Clean Aesthetics: External placement keeps the aquarium visually uncluttered, enhancing the natural look of the aquascape.
- Space Optimization: Frees up in-tank space by eliminating the need for internal diffusers.
- Reduced Algae Buildup: Positioned away from tank lighting, it minimizes algae growth on the ceramic membrane, reducing maintenance compared to in-tank diffusers.
- Enhanced Plant Growth: Consistent CO2 delivery promotes lush, healthy plant growth, improving overall aquarium health.
- Durability: Materials like aluminium or borosilicate glass resist corrosion and cracking, ensuring long-term reliability.
Features:
- High-Quality Materials: Made from aluminium alloy or borosilicate glass for durability and resistance to pressure or corrosion.
- Replaceable Ceramic Membrane: Allows easy maintenance and extends the diffuser’s lifespan.
- Hose Compatibility: Available in 12/16mm or 16/22mm to fit standard canister filter tubing.
- Transparent Chamber: Includes a clear sections to monitor bubble production and diffusion performance.
- Ultra-Fine Bubbles: Ceramic membrane produces micro-bubbles (as small as 0.1mm) for maximum CO2 dissolution.
- High Pressure Tolerance: Designed to handle canister filter and CO2 system pressures safely.
How to Use:
Installation:
- Attach the diffuser to the outflow tubing of an external canister filter, ensuring compatibility with hose size (e.g., 12/16mm or 16/22mm).
- Connect CO2-resistant tubing from a CO2 regulator and cylinder to the diffuser’s CO2 inlet, securing connections with hose clamps or fittings.
- Mount the diffuser to the aquarium glass or cabinet for stability if necessary.
- Avoid placing it before the filter to prevent CO2 buildup in the canister, which could affect filtration or cause noise.
Operation:
- Set the CO2 regulator to a minimum working pressure (typically 30 psi or 2 bar) for effective diffusion.
- Use a bubble counter to monitor and adjust CO2 injection rates, starting with 1-2 bubbles per second and adjusting based on tank size and plant needs.
- Monitor CO2 levels with a drop checker to maintain safe levels (around 20-30 ppm) and avoid stressing fish.
Maintenance:
- Clean the ceramic membrane every 2-3 months to prevent clogging from debris or algae. Soak in a 3:1 water-to-bleach solution or aquarium-safe cleaner, avoiding scrubbing to protect the membrane. Rinse thoroughly and soak in water conditioner to neutralize chlorine.
- Replace the ceramic membrane if it becomes worn (replacement discs are available separately).
- Regularly inspect connections for leaks to ensure consistent CO2 delivery.
Specifications:
- Filter tube size (mm): 12/16mm or 16/22
- CO2 tube size (mm): 4/6
Things to know….
This professional quality diffuser requires a minimum of 30 psi working pressure.
Must be used with CO2 pressure rated tubing only, not for use with silicone tubing.
Tubing must be acid resistant and rated for high working pressure.
Do not use with bubble counter fluid or other bubble counter oils. Fill bubble counter with water only to avoid contamination of diffuser.
For aquariums with external filtration.
